About Sarting the Submersible Vertical Turbine Pump
Before starting the submersible vertical turbine pump correctly, the operator should pay attention to the following details to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
1. Have carefully read the EOMM and local facility operating procedures/manuals.
2. Each pump must be primed, vented and filled with liquid before starting. The pump to be started must be properly primed and vented.
3. The pump suction inlet valve must be fully open.
4. The pump outlet valve may be closed, partially open, or fully open, depending on several factors introduced in Part 2 of this article.
5. The bearings of vertical turbine sump pumps and drivers must have the proper oil levels and/or presence of grease. For oil mist or pressure oil lubrication, it must be confirmed that the external lubrication system is activated.
6. The packing and/or mechanical seal must be adjusted and/or set correctly.
7. The driver must be accurately aligned with the submersible vertical turbine pump
8. The installation and layout of the entire pump and its system have been completed (the valves are installed in place).
9. The operator has been authorized to start the pump (perform lockout/tagout procedures).
10. Start the pump, and then open the outlet valve (to the opening under the required working conditions - ).
11. Observe the relevant instruments - the outlet pressure gauge rises to the correct pressure and the flow meter displays the correct flow rate.
